The Health Information and Quality Authority’s Social Services Inspectorate (SSI), referred to in the Health Act 2007 as the Office of the Chief Inspector, was established to regulate the quality of residential care in designated centres for children, older people, and people with disabilities. This guidance document sets out to inform providers of residential care to older people about their obligations in relation to “notifiable events”, including what a notifiable event is, and what they need to do when a notifiable event occurs.
