Community Games Toolkit

West Midlands for 2012

Subject Keywords: Olympic legacy
Type: Report
Region: United Kingdom

A toolkit developed by the West Midlands that could be adopted in the East of England to develop 2012 related activity across this year and next year.

The West Midlands region has developed a toolkit to help organisations develop a Community Games, which aims to bring communities together, giving them the confidence and skills to organise activities, leaving a legacy far beyond the end of 2012.

Community Games provide a great opportunity to bring your community together to take part in sporting and cultural activities inspired by, and in celebration of, the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. By providing opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to try something new, teach others or show to the rest of their communities their talents, Community Games will provide people the opportunity to have their own Olympic or Paralympic moment.

Supported by the Legacy Trust UK and part of the West Midlands Culture Programme for London 2012, the Community Games programme offers lots of information to help get programmes started through a toolkit, which can be downloaded from the link below.
