Description:

Data with regard to the consumption patterns of alcohol and its effects in the workplace has been studied. Apart from France and Italy, which showed a continuing decreasing pattern, in Europe the consumption patterns of alcohol generally showed a growth in the seventies but decreased or remained stable in the eighties in Europe. In general the consumption patterns of alcohol in Europe are converging with consumption varying from 16.5 litres of pure alcohol per capita (1990) in France to 9.4 Litres per capita in Britain (1990). I have provided the individual and the designers of Alcohol Related Policies with data in order to create an alcohol related environment that will promote health, especially in the workplace and stimulate research in the areas of Employee Assistance Programmes, Alcohol treatment Centres and cirrhosis.
