World Mental Health Day 2016
World Mental Health Day is observed on 10 October every year, with the overall objective of raising awareness of mental health issues around the world and mobilizing efforts in support of mental health. The Day provides an opportunity for all stakeholders working on mental health issues to talk about their work, and what more needs to be done to make mental health care a reality for people worldwide. The theme of this year’s World Mental Health Day covers “psychological first aid”. Efforts in support of the day will focus on basic pragmatic psychological support by people who find themselves in a helping role whether they be health staff, teachers, firemen, community workers, or police officers. WHO is also launching a one year campaign today called ‘Depression: Let’s talk’.

Mental Health Pages
These Mental Health Pages, to be updated on an ongoing basis, aim to increase awareness of mental health issues and increase access to resources that are available across the island, North and South, and more widely.
Mental Health Set
The initial phase of this initiative has been to bring together the mental health resources that are already searchable on The Health Well website . To view this Mental Health Set click here. In September 2014 they contain over 600 documents such as details of interventions and programmes, guidance, policies and strategies, research and evaluations, data sources and organisations.
Mental health organisations across the island
In the near future we will include links to the organisations who support people across the island with mental health problems. In the meantime, you can go to the Organisations Catalogue of the Mental Health Set by clicking here.
Mental health theme on the Community Profiles Tool
The Community Profiles Tool enables users to create publication-ready tables, maps and charts of health-related indicators. Community Profiles utilise a set of over 200 health-related indicators that have been compiled for every local authority area (county councils and city councils) in the Republic of Ireland and every local government district in Northern Ireland. A group of indicators relating to mental health have been gathered together in a Mental Health theme and can be viewed by clicking here
Updating the Mental Health Pages
To continue the development of these Mental Health Pages and the Mental Health Set we invite organisations to contribute their relevant resources. Details of your materials will be included on The Health Well website so they can be searched alongside other resources in the Mental Health Set and The Health Well. If a visitor views details of your materials, they will be redirected to your website to download them. In addition, we will include a “partner website” page on The Health Well that describe the organisation.
Contributing to the Mental Health Set involves no cost or work from the organisation. To contact us about this, please email email@example.com
