138. The Role of Bullying And Age In Identifying Suicidal Adolescents In The Emergency Department

Emergency departments (EDs) are ideally situated to identify and respond to youth bullying and its associated negative effects. Approximately 1.5 million children and adolescents utilize the ED as their primary and regular form of health care. There is a high prevalence of bullying victimization observed among adolescent ED patients. Bullying victimization serves as an important marker for other serious psychiatric issues, and cross sectional and longitudinal research reveal increased risk of suicidality among youth reporting bully victimization.
