The National Perinatal Statistic Report 2013 released by HSE

The HSE has published the National Perinatal Statistic Report 2013.  The report is based on national data on perinatal events in 2013.  The information collected includes data on pregnancy outcomes as well as descriptive social and biological characteristics of mothers giving birth and relates to 22 weeks gestation to the first week of life.  Significant findings over the last decade include an increase of 11% in the total annual number of births.  The average age of mothers has increased by 1.3 years to 32.1 years.  The number of first time mothers has increased to 38%.
